Best Wedding Venues & Engagement Photo Locations on Long Island
On Long Island there are so many scenic nature spots and venues to choose from, but these are my absolute favorites for couples planning intimate weddings or engagement photos on Long Island. Between the gorgeous backdrops and the way they glow in golden hour, these Long Island wedding venues and engagement photo locations are sure to add a magical spark to your photos.
Flowerfield
What I love about it:
One of the biggest highlights about Flowerfield is how it’s atrium setting brings the outdoors inside. As a Long Island wedding photographer, I love how versatile Flowerfield is year-round. No matter the time of year, you’ll have great botanical backdrops embedded in your wedding day. It’s still a classy venue, but it brings the perfect blend of nature along with it. Another touch of magic that Flowerfield holds is the perfectly placed string lights along the grounds. These are ideal for great bokeh photos, which is one of my favorite effects to include in night shots. Added bonus, the food is to die for. Their mac and cheese is my favorite, but truly you can’t go wrong here.

Peconic River Herb Farm
What I love about it:
Another great option for nature lovers is the Peconic River Herb Farm. This venue is a popular spot for engagement photos as well as weddings. It’s ideal for couples looking for a small, intimate wedding venue on Long Island with a rustic feel. It has so many cute details tucked away to give it that down to earth charm. Their greenhouse is a beautiful spot to snap some romantics, and the grounds are full of colorful buildings and tented areas. Plants are everywhere on this property, and it’s quaint atmosphere has a cozy and inviting farmhouse feel.

Prosser Pines Nature Preserve
What I love about it:
This is one location I’ll always suggest. It’s so gorgeous all year with the tall pines everywhere, and great even into late fall/early winter because the pines are so predominant. In the prime weeks of the leaves changing, you’ll get an added pop of color from the smaller trees scattered throughout. The backdrop is so unique in the pine forest, but if you combine it with golden hour, it becomes completely enchanting. The sun’s glow peaking through the trees is simply unmatched here. I’ve even done photoshoots with my friends here, as well as my girlfriend and our dog (yes, it’s pet friendly too!).

Belmont Lake State Park
What I love about it:
Honestly, Belmont Lake State Park is always a great location, but fall is when it truly shines. The foliage is incredible here, year after year. There are many opportunities for photos with the lake as a backdrop, complete with stunning shades of orange and yellow leaves. This is a spot that is pure magic. Sprinkle in some golden hour lighting and everything is magnified and glows even more, especially with all the warm tones in the leaves. This park is dog friendly if you’re looking to include your furry friends. (I do suggest bringing someone else along to watch after your pup when they’re not in photos.) It’s also flat and easily walkable, and has several bridges nestled in the paths that make for great photos.

Backyard Wedding
What I love about it:
Backyard weddings are perfect for couples planning intimate weddings on Long Island. They’re a great way to keep your day special. I love the DIY aspect allowing couples to add more of a personal touch to their details and timeline. The focus ends up more on being with friends & family and having a good time. This is what I’d most likely choose for my own wedding. I do suggest hiring a day-of-wedding coordinator to help everything run smoothly, so you can be stress free and enjoy your day.
Stonebridge Country Club
What I love about it:
First of all, the bridal suite is gorgeous! There’s such good lighting in there; think light & airy vibe. It feels like the most expensive hotel I’ve never stepped into. When it comes to outside, the lighting is just as perfect. From a photography standpoint, it’s one of the most consistent wedding venues on Long Island for beautiful light. The sun seems to always be in the exact right position for photos with the cutest little bridge and trees surrounding it. Then the hills and golf course create a completely different & unique opportunity for photos. The staff is also very attentive and really care.
